We are nearing the end of summer (vacation, that is), I am tired of it being too hot to wear anything other than a swimsuit, and I am currently drooling over all of the new fall clothes. What is a girl to do?<br />
<br />
Most importantly, I keep telling myself not to buy any fall clothes... yet. Instead, focus on all of the amazing sales right now. And, if I am going to buy anything new, it must be transitional. I know that you are probably sick of hearing about transition pieces, but it is true. If you are going to spend any money on clothes right now, it should be for something that you are going to wear for more than a month or two.<br />
<br />
What should you buy? A midi length skirt or cami style midi dress. With the there being so much emphasis on the 1930's style of dressing this fall, plus the 1970's influence still out there, these two styles are perfect for wearing now and later. If you are a little hesitant, just think about it for a minute... a fluid skirt that hits just below the knee screams elegance, and there is something sexy and comfortable about a silk (or silkish) dress that doesn't show off too much leg. Plus, the layering options are endless. This could be a purchase that you wear all year!<br />
<br />
This style skirt or dress can be worn to work, to dinner, out on the town or even running errands. You could wear the skirt with a tank, blouse sweater or jacket. The dress can be worn with basically the same items. The best part is that you can wear it tomorrow in 90 degree weather with wedges or in 40 degree weather with your most fabulous faux fur and booties. I believe that I have found the most versatile transitional pieces this season, seriously!<br />
<br />
If you are not quite sure what I am going on and on about, I have several examples below. <a href="http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/index.jsp">Anthropologie</a> couldn't be a more perfect store for this look. <a href="http://yumikim.com/main/">Yumi Kim</a> and <a href="http://tuckerbygabybasora.com/">Tucker by Gaby Basora</a> are also good choices, but a bit pricier. <a href="http://www.zara.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/home/us/en/zara-S2011-s">Zara</a>, <a href="http://us.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/TopCategoriesDisplay?storeId=13052&catalogId=33060">Topshop</a>, and <a href="http://us.asos.com/?r=1&mk=B1">Asos</a> are fabulous sites for finding the contemporary styles at reasonable prices.<br />

Not to say that I was blown away (although there were a few that were fabulous) but very happy that she has remained true to her style. As seen in the <a href="http://nymag.com/daily/fashion/2011/03/the_kate_middleton_look_book.html#">Kate Middleton Look Book</a> (courtesy of <a href="http://nymag.com/daily/fashion/">The Cut</a>), KM's style has always been elegant, classic, understated and fairly safe but very flattering. She is the perfect style icon for all of us commoners who go to work, take care of kids, attend various events from time to time and are on some sort of a clothing budget (in other words, a perfect style icon for "real life"). <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OZaFBSQzILc/Th3P6X2SNUI/AAAAAAAAAnU/gp2NziqtZps/s1600/kmid-07012011-b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OZaFBSQzILc/Th3P6X2SNUI/AAAAAAAAAnU/gp2NziqtZps/s1600/kmid-07012011-b.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0DZ172nFRWM/Th3P4znmGCI/AAAAAAAAAnM/UfbsS2eCCyY/s1600/kmid-06302011-c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0DZ172nFRWM/Th3P4znmGCI/AAAAAAAAAnM/UfbsS2eCCyY/s1600/kmid-06302011-c.jpg" /></a></div><br />
As I always tell my clients, you must first invest in the basics... the foundation of your wardrobe. Once you have the groundwork established, you can start to add the fun exciting fashion pieces. If you just go for the fluff without any any structure behind it, what will you have to work with? And, if you wonder why you are always buying, buying, buying and have nothing to wear, take a look at your basics (or probably lack there of).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xTGwgAVpXLE/Th3P_-B5wRI/AAAAAAAAAoE/_yEKygLL5Js/s1600/kmid-07082011-b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xTGwgAVpXLE/Th3P_-B5wRI/AAAAAAAAAoE/_yEKygLL5Js/s1600/kmid-07082011-b.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Okay, so my point is that KM can teach us all a thing or two about how important basics truly are to any girl's closet (with the exception of celebrities, socialites, etc). First, her "go to" navy Smythe blazer. Worn several different times while traveling and in Canada. Wear it with dresses (business appropriate, fun & floaty or maxis), jeans, skirts or shorts. Layer it with different tops depending on the event... stripes, lace, sequins or your basic shirt. I found it very irritating that she was criticized for re-wearing it on her trip. Is that not the point of packing smart (although she did have 40 outfits), and down to earth? Did you know that blazer sold out within several days of it's first appearance on KM? <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-s20byg6q3y4/Th3P5boOFQI/AAAAAAAAAnQ/zdHfElMCAVo/s1600/kmid-06302011.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-s20byg6q3y4/Th3P5boOFQI/AAAAAAAAAnQ/zdHfElMCAVo/s1600/kmid-06302011.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-P-oe829bRZc/Th3P-o5cjEI/AAAAAAAAAn4/lx9bs-N2leg/s1600/kmid-07062011.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-P-oe829bRZc/Th3P-o5cjEI/AAAAAAAAAn4/lx9bs-N2leg/s1600/kmid-07062011.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Then we have the J. Brand skinny jeans that KM wore consistently throughout Canada. Is that not what you are supposed to do with jeans? You have your favorite skinny pair, your wide leg pair, the pair for heels and, of course, a pair for flats. Once again she was criticized for wearing them too much. Seriously, she wore them when it was appropriate to wear pants. She is 29. Skinny jeans are a perfect choice. More importantly, that is her style.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Qu3RCmYeJf4/Th3RzrF27rI/AAAAAAAAAoY/9jLhac1uvVE/s1600/kmid-07042011-c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Qu3RCmYeJf4/Th3RzrF27rI/AAAAAAAAAoY/9jLhac1uvVE/s1600/kmid-07042011-c.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ky1MW8PRTCM/Th3P9lwtd2I/AAAAAAAAAnw/kXirebXXiE0/s1600/kmid-07052011-c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ky1MW8PRTCM/Th3P9lwtd2I/AAAAAAAAAnw/kXirebXXiE0/s1600/kmid-07052011-c.jpg" /></a></div><br />
I must also mention her L.K. Bennett nude pumps. Although it would have fun to have a new shoe for every outfit, she once again used her "go to" shoes. And, she always looked polished and put together. KM has done more for nude pumps than any other celebrity out there. If you don't own a pair yet, it is time to invest. Nude pumps are a must have for any girl. When in doubt of which shoe to wear, always go with the nude (plus they make your legs look great!).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0_aHp1WbMqI/Th3P8es1jjI/AAAAAAAAAnk/zpnMEPyf3Bo/s1600/kmid-07032011-b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0_aHp1WbMqI/Th3P8es1jjI/AAAAAAAAAnk/zpnMEPyf3Bo/s1600/kmid-07032011-b.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BQZzs8m7PLE/Th3QBRQjLAI/AAAAAAAAAoM/UcjNbY2YfEc/s1600/kmid-07082011b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BQZzs8m7PLE/Th3QBRQjLAI/AAAAAAAAAoM/UcjNbY2YfEc/s1600/kmid-07082011b.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YLxED1pxjko/Th3P-974tAI/AAAAAAAAAn8/-Og5ckwjmSo/s1600/kmid-07072011.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YLxED1pxjko/Th3P-974tAI/AAAAAAAAAn8/-Og5ckwjmSo/s1600/kmid-07072011.jpg" /></a></div><br />
These are just a few examples of KM's timeless style. There is much to be learned from how she mix & matches her wardrobe. The resourcefulness that she uses is great to see. It is what we all have to do on a day-to-day basis. And, that is where the true creativity lies. Anyone can go out and buy new pieces and look great, but to put together your existing wardrobe in new ways... that is where true cleverness and imagination come into play. All the makings of a style icon.<br />

It all started with the hype around Kate & William's wedding. Every time I turned on a talk show the host was trying on custom made fascinators. I almost died! They were gorgeous! And, let's not forget outrageously expensive! The price really isn't important because I can't really see myself wearing one of these creations. Maybe one day... when I get invited to a high profile wedding or polo match. Until then, I regard these fascinators as pieces of art. I would just like to own one to display as I would a painting... hmmm, I should have a chat with my hubby about that.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YrBHYlkuEoo/TgoY32T6uZI/AAAAAAAAAnE/c2EPeit1eJA/s1600/Kate-Middleton-Fascinators-Hair-Accessories.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YrBHYlkuEoo/TgoY32T6uZI/AAAAAAAAAnE/c2EPeit1eJA/s1600/Kate-Middleton-Fascinators-Hair-Accessories.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Anywho, it just so happens that I have several weddings to attend this summer. After all of the fascinator talk, I started to think about how a fascinator on a smaller scale might be a great way to change up the dress I will undoubtedly wear to at least 5 different functions. I have learned that I do not need a new dress for every event (especially if I can't think of several different ways to wear it), but I do need to be able to style it differently for these events. Jewelry and belts are a given... so are different shoes. But what about something different? Maybe a new hair accessory would be the answer!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6I7j1QjW1v4/TgoXtkeRDxI/AAAAAAAAAnA/fbMeAWyM-3c/s1600/fascinator.jpg-by-www.interestment.co_.uk_.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="321" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6I7j1QjW1v4/TgoXtkeRDxI/AAAAAAAAAnA/fbMeAWyM-3c/s400/fascinator.jpg-by-www.interestment.co_.uk_.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
Since this is supposed to be a cost effective solution, I checked out my one of my favorite websites... Etsy. And, once again, it did not disappoint. I found many (honestly, thousands) of beautiful headbands, clips and combs, but there was one seller that I found myself drawn to... LovMely. Mellissa Miles, the artist behind these beautiful hairpieces, also sells jewelry, cuffs, a bridal collection... she even does custom orders! You must check her out on <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/LovMely?ref=pr_shop">Etsy</a> or her <a href="http://lovmely.com/">website</a>. You can even like her <a href="http://www.facebook.com/LovMely">facebook</a>. If you are looking for something a little different that won't break the bank, this is the way to go...<br />

Whether is it H&M, Target, Gap or even J.Crew, an excitement builds at the thought of being able to wear something from a designer label that we usually just drool over. Depending on the store, the investment is not too great and there isn't much thought involved in making the purchase. It goes something like this... designer's signature look, not the best fabric, but it is only $34.99, so why not? If I only wear it a few times, it was worth the purchase, right? Right! But what if the investment is significantly more than $34.99?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-73Tl4yYnyTs/TezztK84nbI/AAAAAAAAAmI/zgQJhlyeUlA/s1600/prabal-gurung-for-jcrew-capsule-collection-pink-dress-mix-denim-short-and-shoes-beauty.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-73Tl4yYnyTs/TezztK84nbI/AAAAAAAAAmI/zgQJhlyeUlA/s1600/prabal-gurung-for-jcrew-capsule-collection-pink-dress-mix-denim-short-and-shoes-beauty.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>Well, I am usually a fan of the Target collaborations. The quality is not the best, but when you aren't paying much money you can't expect the best fabrics. But, they do a great job of giving you the look of the designer in very wearable clothing. They create everyday pieces that can be mixed and matched into anyone's wardrobe. Not too long ago, I bought two of the Tucker dresses during their stint at Target. I have to say that I have worn those dresses a lot! Nothing fancy, but just out and about during the day running errands, schleping the kids around, etc. And, because I didn't spend very much money, I don't worry about anything happening to the clothing... I can just throw it in the washing machine!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Rhv4IExNWV8/Tez0BnDhP4I/AAAAAAAAAmk/IPHZ6hn3oc8/s1600/prabal-gurung-for-jcrew-collection-casual-white.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Rhv4IExNWV8/Tez0BnDhP4I/AAAAAAAAAmk/IPHZ6hn3oc8/s1600/prabal-gurung-for-jcrew-collection-casual-white.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Then there is the the type of capsule collection that <a href="http://www.prabalgurung.com/">Prabal Gurung</a> just released at<a href="http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Navigation/prabal-gurung.jsp#"> J.Crew</a>. Absolutely beautiful clothing at contemporary pricing. This kind of collaboration is on another level. You have a very hot designer (a CFDA/Vogue fund nominee), a specialty retailer that can do no wrong and the fruits of their labor are to die for... literally! Gurung has only had his own label for a few years, but has already made quite a mark. He is known for his architectural take on designs and attention to detail. He treats his designs as pieces of art and in doing so creates timeless pieces of clothing. And, yes, his collection at J.Crew is truly a piece of Prabal Gurung. Just 7 pieces, but all with the architectural details that you would expect.<br />

</div>However, here is the dilemma... do you spend $198 - $450 for a piece of art? Definitely, if it fits into your personal style! There are a great pair of tuxedo style pants, white denim cigarette pants, two different blouses, a dress, and a very cool white denim blazer. All of which are pieces that can be worn forever. They are statement making items that can be pulled out from time to time, worn in different ways and will never look out of style. So, really think about it. Check out the looks <a href="http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Navigation/prabal-gurung.jsp#">online</a>. Think about how great it would be to be able to pull out the exploding bow blouse to wear with a pair of skinny black pants, jeans, shorts, etc the next time you have somewhere special to go, and don't want to look like everyone else. This is an investment that just might pay off in spades!<br />

It was a great party and everyone had fun, but isn't it funny how many of your weekends are filled with children's birthday parties? Even if you don't have kids, you probably know a handful of people with kids or you have nieces and nephews... so you understand the birthday party shuffle. Once the weather gets warm, the invitations start rolling in. Before you know it, the weekends are booked... birthday parties, bbq's, sporting events... you name it. Lots of activities and nothing to wear, right?!<br />
<br />
It seems to be trickier dressing at this time of the year because you are just out more. You still have your "weekday uniform" but that won't fly on the weekends and you can't wear skinny jeans and boots all summer, so what are you to do? The best thing to do is find several key pieces that can be mixed and matched with things that you already own. <br />
<br />
1. skinny white jeans (ankle length is best)<br />
- picture Jackie O in her cropped white jeans and a black tee. These jeans can be paired with tanks, <br />
tunics, sequin tee's, you name it. They are the basis of your summer wardrobe and they can be worn<br />
during the day or at night.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OPWfZzI2L14/TdraB4dmzRI/AAAAAAAAAkg/hd81KBdHbX8/s1600/joesj4006512397_p1_1-0_347x683.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OPWfZzI2L14/TdraB4dmzRI/AAAAAAAAAkg/hd81KBdHbX8/s640/joesj4006512397_p1_1-0_347x683.jpg" width="323" /></a></div><br />
2. sundress (can be maxi or something longer and a little loose - think flowing & comfortable)<br />
- a dress is so easy in the summer. Throw it on and you are ready to go... wherever. It is also looks<br />
great layered under a jacket or sweater or is even better on a hot day. Definitely a go-to piece on the <br />
weekends.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TIo23HtZieM/TdrjuISqrVI/AAAAAAAAAlQ/6WeTVaQQpdE/s1600/alccc4001011231_p1_1-1_347x683.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TIo23HtZieM/TdrjuISqrVI/AAAAAAAAAlQ/6WeTVaQQpdE/s640/alccc4001011231_p1_1-1_347x683.jpg" width="323" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SNZ9-TETCVQ/TdrjykiE61I/AAAAAAAAAlU/Hd6DqSK-sJI/s1600/gp841092-00vliv01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SNZ9-TETCVQ/TdrjykiE61I/AAAAAAAAAlU/Hd6DqSK-sJI/s640/gp841092-00vliv01.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KqE_8iObeOQ/TdrjqmEPWtI/AAAAAAAAAlM/NSziWlOG8iE/s1600/candc4002734984_p1_1-0_347x683.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KqE_8iObeOQ/TdrjqmEPWtI/AAAAAAAAAlM/NSziWlOG8iE/s640/candc4002734984_p1_1-0_347x683.jpg" width="324" /></a></div><br />
3. striped tee<br />
- just as classic as the white jeans. You must have some sort of representation of the sailor stripe in<br />
your wardrobe. This shirt is perfect when a little loose and can be worn with pretty much anything,<br />
including patterns...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SsJ1w75SAL4/TdraLGZz7rI/AAAAAAAAAkk/C6xkZXe94h0/s1600/server.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SsJ1w75SAL4/TdraLGZz7rI/AAAAAAAAAkk/C6xkZXe94h0/s400/server.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
4. fitted jacket or blazer<br />
- this is taking the place your leather jacket. You need something that you can throw on over a dress,<br />
or with a tee and jeans that will add a bit of edge to your outfit.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MHCzMni33q4/TdrabfTgkYI/AAAAAAAAAk0/q8EzeWBIDm0/s1600/erez.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MHCzMni33q4/TdrabfTgkYI/AAAAAAAAAk0/q8EzeWBIDm0/s400/erez.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qDPVgdCJUJ4/TdraTeor7RI/AAAAAAAAAko/7YSPN5FLhJ0/s1600/erez-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qDPVgdCJUJ4/TdraTeor7RI/AAAAAAAAAko/7YSPN5FLhJ0/s400/erez-1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
5. chunky knit cardigan<br />
- this is the kind of sweater that you could throw on over a dress, with your shorts or your striped<br />
shirt, even a swimsuit at the end of a fabulous beach day. It is heavy enough to keep you warm on a<br />
cool summer evening, but not too bulky.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lzz5G6qXSjE/TdrcrrTKDaI/AAAAAAAAAlA/aeiA8wehiXQ/s1600/brchu4001710991_p1_1-0_347x683.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lzz5G6qXSjE/TdrcrrTKDaI/AAAAAAAAAlA/aeiA8wehiXQ/s640/brchu4001710991_p1_1-0_347x683.jpg" width="323" /></a></div><br />
6. colorful shorts<br />
- a cute pair of dressier, colorful shorts are a must have! Dress them up or down, and they are much<br />
more functional and modern than a little skirt.... especially when playing with the little ones.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vMzcUardXRc/TdrbrJ0tLQI/AAAAAAAAAk8/NwsXnWf_Rfc/s1600/erez-4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vMzcUardXRc/TdrbrJ0tLQI/AAAAAAAAAk8/NwsXnWf_Rfc/s400/erez-4.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
7. wedge sandals<br />
- these are perfect for the days you want to dress up a bit, but it is still a daytime function. Chances<br />
are you will be chasing after kids, so you don't want to break an ankle, but you don't want to<br />
wear flip flops again...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

8. wide belt<br />
- something neutral, ligheter weight (jute)...on the more casual side. Use it on a skirt, dress, tunic...<br />
give your outfit some shape and more summery feel.<br />
<br />

Her advice and design philosophy are fairly classic. She follows the runway trends and ignores the maternity industry. If you see her in the store, she will tell you that "if you won't wear it when you are not pregnant, don't wear it while you are pregnant". This goes along with the belief that many women compromise their clothing and style while pregnant, and this should not be the case. Therefore the design and quality of the fabrics are very important to Pope.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--1hvF9jSkqk/TdccO5JU19I/AAAAAAAAAjs/EAPgl71A26U/s1600/RPM-S-11-302-Lipstick-front.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--1hvF9jSkqk/TdccO5JU19I/AAAAAAAAAjs/EAPgl71A26U/s400/RPM-S-11-302-Lipstick-front.jpg" width="256" /></a></div><br />
So what do you get when you visit Rosie Pope Maternity? You get an attention to design and detail as well as clothes that you would buy on an everyday basis, but are made to fit a pregnant woman. Okay, enough with the preaching... what are her tips???<br />
<br />
The essentials for every pregnant woman...<br />
<br />
* leggings - invest in a nice quality<br />
* tanks - wear alone or layered - the basis of your wardrobe<br />
* dresses - they are easy, comfy, will easily take you from day to night and will last longer (the most versatile are wraps and shirtdresses)<br />
* pants - invest in at least one pair of great pants<br />
* jeans - same as the pants<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-od5aS6WKKP8/TdccQIj35QI/AAAAAAAAAj8/fQNV4YWqT0U/s1600/RPM-S-11-308-Navy-front.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-od5aS6WKKP8/TdccQIj35QI/AAAAAAAAAj8/fQNV4YWqT0U/s400/RPM-S-11-308-Navy-front.jpg" width="256" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-EyB4LzA1i9o/TdccO8oWDiI/AAAAAAAAAjw/OVeno5bCjDg/s1600/RPM-S-11-305-Frenchnavy-front.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-EyB4LzA1i9o/TdccO8oWDiI/AAAAAAAAAjw/OVeno5bCjDg/s400/RPM-S-11-305-Frenchnavy-front.jpg" width="256" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-47p_JwblvFM/TdccQFp4NHI/AAAAAAAAAkA/aYw9dd-IFUs/s1600/RPM-S-11-401-Navy-front-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-47p_JwblvFM/TdccQFp4NHI/AAAAAAAAAkA/aYw9dd-IFUs/s400/RPM-S-11-401-Navy-front-1.jpg" width="256" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4ymkv5mJmFo/TdccQ7C_k_I/AAAAAAAAAkI/icu6_LUbMas/s1600/RPM-S-11-402-Black-front-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4ymkv5mJmFo/TdccQ7C_k_I/AAAAAAAAAkI/icu6_LUbMas/s400/RPM-S-11-402-Black-front-1.jpg" width="256" /></a></div><br />
A tip when trying on pants and jeans... try on many different brands and fits. Just because a specific brand fit you well before, once you are pregnant your body changes. This same brand may not fit as well as it did prior to your pregnancy. Be open to trying on everything. This also goes for different types of waistbands. There are several different ways that pants are made... the waist covers the belly, fits underneath the belly, etc. You need to try on everything to make sure that you figure out what is most comfortable for you.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1TzhMkoVZDA/TdccjjDqFNI/AAAAAAAAAkQ/PFj3xVxB77o/s1600/rosie+tunic.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1TzhMkoVZDA/TdccjjDqFNI/AAAAAAAAAkQ/PFj3xVxB77o/s400/rosie+tunic.jpg" width="256" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YBZ31VjOc34/TdccpycnwyI/AAAAAAAAAkU/li20Ctv8FYo/s1600/J11-240-redwhite-front.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YBZ31VjOc34/TdccpycnwyI/AAAAAAAAAkU/li20Ctv8FYo/s400/J11-240-redwhite-front.jpg" width="256" /></a></div><br />
For the "fourth trimester", Pope gave me the best advice that I have ever heard... buy some maternity clothes that you LOVE at the very end of your pregnancy. Don't wear them until after you have had the baby. This way you won't associate them with being pregnant and they will fit you much better than trying to squeeze into pre-pregnancy pieces. Also, check out nursing options. There are some cute styles out there that will help make nursing while you are out and about much easier.<br />
<br />
The essentials for this transition time...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>* leggings - good quality<br />
* tunics - spend some more on some pieces so you will enjoy wearing them<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>This is great and timeless advice. Take it and run. Visit Pope's <a href="http://www.rosiepopematernity.com/">website</a> and if you are close enough, head to her store in Manhattan. For the rest of the country, she is planning on expanding her clothing stores and studios next year!<br />

I was so excited for this opportunity because I (like everyone else) love Rosie! She is genuine, creative and brilliant! She could be your best friend and at the same time she is taking over the maternity world!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xMBVsLy-NT8/TdV6-REatkI/AAAAAAAAAjU/fwAOMvtyS7g/s1600/img-article---lacob-rosie-pope_185854427897.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="311" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xMBVsLy-NT8/TdV6-REatkI/AAAAAAAAAjU/fwAOMvtyS7g/s400/img-article---lacob-rosie-pope_185854427897.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>For those of you not familiar with Rosie's story, I will catch you up briefly... Pope came onto the maternity scene in 2008 when her clothing store in Manhattan first opened. She first discovered a large void for stylish and wearable maternity clothes as she and her friends began to think about starting their families. Instead of complaining about the lack of options, Pope got to work and started creating chic looks for the women in her life. As things took off, Pope found herself getting ready to open her first store as she was about to give birth to her first child. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YQgsWBEYdeY/TdV7xrJ9PZI/AAAAAAAAAjY/-TzGRNaBCpk/s1600/Rosie+Pope+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YQgsWBEYdeY/TdV7xrJ9PZI/AAAAAAAAAjY/-TzGRNaBCpk/s400/Rosie+Pope+2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
Once her store opened, she realized a void in education for pregnant women as well as those who have just given birth. Once again, Pope took it upon herself to start offering classes in her store. As things grew, she opened her studio, MomPrep, two blocks away from her clothing store. She now offers everything from prenatal yoga, infant CPR classes to debates between experts in the field (such as a doula vs. an anesthesiologist).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nbyyE4Du3ys/TdV8YIMwpLI/AAAAAAAAAjc/DgH_1APVatA/s1600/logo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="253" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nbyyE4Du3ys/TdV8YIMwpLI/AAAAAAAAAjc/DgH_1APVatA/s320/logo.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
If that weren't enough, her maternity concierge services began as women began coming in the store and asking questions. As she began to be asked consistently about things like baby proofing and finding a nanny. Pope had no idea that there was even a need for a service like this, but just like everything else, she took it upon herself to fill this void. Now, you can go to Pope for a variety of needs before or after your baby is born.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fs2dkhclUKU/TdV6ROU_wKI/AAAAAAAAAjQ/lJ0EVOoa3JI/s1600/rosie_pope_mother.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fs2dkhclUKU/TdV6ROU_wKI/AAAAAAAAAjQ/lJ0EVOoa3JI/s400/rosie_pope_mother.jpg" width="278" /></a></div><br />
Before I get to the style tips, the lesson that I learned from Rosie is to be a doer! Her success has been based on her ability to identify voids in the market and to fill them well. She is obviously a caring and talented person, but her resourcefulness in acting on these ideas is what I admire most. Plus, she is building her empire while starting a family... very impressive!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YfQkqYECqxA/TdV8p8IhgpI/AAAAAAAAAjg/o2r_m6XVjQo/s1600/Rosie-Headshot.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YfQkqYECqxA/TdV8p8IhgpI/AAAAAAAAAjg/o2r_m6XVjQo/s400/Rosie-Headshot.jpg" width="313" /></a></div><br />
If you haven't watched Rosie's show yet, you must watch the season finale of Pregnant in Heels - Tuesday on Bravo. I guarantee that you will fall in love with Rosie too!<br />
<br />
*P.S. Check back tomorrow for style tips while expecting and after you have the baby... straight from Rosie!<br />

The Jil Sander Spring 2011 collection has quite possibly been the most photographed assortment of clothing that I have seen in a long time. Why? Because it is so refreshing! Raf Simons, the designer behind the label, played with color, proportion, unexpected combinations and touched on just about all of the trends for the season... a-mah-zing!!! When I think of this line, I keep hearing Bethenny Frankel... "go big or go home" and that is just what Simon did, literally! There was no holding back and it is a good thing. If he had second-guessed himself at all, we would not be able to drool over such a fabulous clothing!<br />

The temps are climbing, the flowers and trees (including my beautiful magnolia tree) are blooming, the vibrant blue skies are gorgeous... Spring is in all of it's glory. This always reinvigorates me! All, I want to do is get dressed up in beautiful clothing, especially long flowing dresses and skirts! After several seasons of loading on jewelry, embellished tee's, and metallic everything... this is a much needed breath of fresh air. Instead of loading on the jewelry or other embellishments, the color and the major pieces of clothing are the only statements needed (plus a pop on the lips)! The original Jil Sander started her line based on minimalism and understated elegance, and Simons has stayed true to her aesthetic while also keeping the look very modern and "of the moment". <br />

Most of us can't afford to buy this look exactly as it was shown on the runway, but we can at least try to replicate the feeling of line... maybe use some of the ideas to easily update our look this spring/summer. Most notable to the collection is the use of color - wearing and mixing & matching bright colors - and major skirts & dresses that make a statement. Add a bold coat, dress, skirt to the neutrals that you already have in your closet. If that is too much color, try a bright bag, belt or colorful shoes. And, if you are more daring, play with your hemlines. Indulge in a maxi dress or skirt... remember that it is all about your own personal taste and lifestyle. A maxi does not have to hit the floor. It can be ankle-length and worn with flip flops or motorcycle boots. Or, you can it up with wedges or a cool platform heel. <br />

I was going to pass on it all together since it is already mid-April, but I keep dreaming about a certain Vince dress... So, let's talk about leather. For a few seasons and going forward, the leather jacket is as important as a blazer in a woman's wardrobe. It has taken the place of the cardigan and gives your outfit that unexpected twist and a little edge, plus who doesn't love the feel of a fabulous buttery (real or faux) leather jacket!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gjJjIIIoRPs/Ta8WqJQXuVI/AAAAAAAAAh0/B9SvTeN9oXk/s1600/TB_12114552_707.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gjJjIIIoRPs/Ta8WqJQXuVI/AAAAAAAAAh0/B9SvTeN9oXk/s640/TB_12114552_707.jpeg" width="561" /></a></div><br />
Leather has been slowly moving into other wardrobe categories... first it was leggings and skinny pants and now dresses and skirts. I can't help but covet a sleek pair of black leather skinny pants in the Fall, however, there is something even more appealing about the warm caramel tones used in leather for the Spring. <br />
<br />
And now, the <a href="http://www.vince.com/">Vince</a> dress... a beautiful leather shift that is a-mah-zing! I can't help to dream about all of the different ways that I would wear it... layered with tights, looking sleek with pumps, add some caged sandals for a bit of edge or maybe make it more demure with a pair of pointy toe flats and a cardi...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZM5bB3PB59s/Ta8TEWzy9FI/AAAAAAAAAhg/J2w-Xg-VtEo/s1600/vince4000712517_p1_1-1_347x683.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZM5bB3PB59s/Ta8TEWzy9FI/AAAAAAAAAhg/J2w-Xg-VtEo/s1600/vince4000712517_p1_1-1_347x683.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">And for those who may want a more conservative approach to the leather dress, there is an equally fabulous <a href="http://www.toryburch.dress/">Tory Burch</a> dress...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-T94GJEDFcMU/Ta8UQU6NEQI/AAAAAAAAAhk/X76F25w6gc4/s1600/TB_11114416_707.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-T94GJEDFcMU/Ta8UQU6NEQI/AAAAAAAAAhk/X76F25w6gc4/s640/TB_11114416_707.jpeg" width="561" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Not really a dress person, well, then try the leather skirt... just as versatile as the dress. You just need find the appropriate style for you! This <a href="http://www.aliceandolivia.com/">Alice & Olivia</a> skirt is for the fun-loving girl...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2bfoFTNkPiY/Ta8V0QNhBpI/AAAAAAAAAho/wpW0VAu1RDQ/s1600/1155860_fpx.tif.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2bfoFTNkPiY/Ta8V0QNhBpI/AAAAAAAAAho/wpW0VAu1RDQ/s640/1155860_fpx.tif.jpeg" width="508" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">... and this <a href="http://www.toryburch.com/">Tory Burch</a> pencil skirt is for those who would prefer a more sophisticated look.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KDNEj5ua0D0/Ta8WpZ83KgI/AAAAAAAAAhs/DoX-eyyCTQA/s1600/TB_11114329_707.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KDNEj5ua0D0/Ta8WpZ83KgI/AAAAAAAAAhs/DoX-eyyCTQA/s640/TB_11114329_707.jpeg" width="561" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I can't forget these very fabulous red leather skinny pants from <a href="http://www.zara.com/">Zara</a>... just because I adore them!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-K0mVOLFOGsU/Ta8Y4u4kCcI/AAAAAAAAAh4/Snlx0DGRVhc/s1600/2969049600_1_1_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-K0mVOLFOGsU/Ta8Y4u4kCcI/AAAAAAAAAh4/Snlx0DGRVhc/s640/2969049600_1_1_2.jpg" width="498" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This season leather comes in many styles and at many price points. Leather is definitely an investment, but this style isn't going anywhere any time soon. Therefore, it just might be worth the hefty price tag! Other stores to try for less expensive leather looks are <a href="http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/">Urban Outfitters</a>, <a href="http://us.topshop.com/">Topshop</a>, and <a href="http://www.neimanmarcus.com/">Neiman Marcus</a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="http://www.neimanmarcus.com/"></a> for more conservative pieces</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div style="color: #101a46; font: 20.0px Zapfino; margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;"><span style="letter-spacing: 0px;"> </span></div><div style="color: #101a46; font: 20.0px Zapfino; margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;"><span style="letter-spacing: 0px;"> - Allison</span></div><div><span style="letter-spacing: 0px;"><br />

I had a baptism a few weeks ago for my irresistibly adorable neice. My usual "go to" in these situations is a dress. This is due to the fact that after racing around the house to get everyone ready, I usually only have a matter of minutes to get myself dressed. At least with a dress, I know that I will look somewhat put together (as long as my shoes match!). So, what do I do when the weather is scheduled to be cold and rainy?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dsn01cvLKWc/Ta3dAbF8gAI/AAAAAAAAAg8/WNTt7enIf9Y/s1600/Joan+Crawford+-+32.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dsn01cvLKWc/Ta3dAbF8gAI/AAAAAAAAAg8/WNTt7enIf9Y/s640/Joan+Crawford+-+32.jpg" width="521" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JMYtUqeP4IE/Ta3dMkro4cI/AAAAAAAAAhA/JkDW9XNxy3U/s1600/suit+for+street+church+business+travel.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JMYtUqeP4IE/Ta3dMkro4cI/AAAAAAAAAhA/JkDW9XNxy3U/s640/suit+for+street+church+business+travel.jpg" width="377" /></a></div><br />
So, I stressed and stressed because this in-between weather always confounds me. I try to plan outfits with layers as well as a cold and warm weather option for shoes, but there always seems to be a catch... such as rain! Then the suede shoes are out as well as the open toe... hmmm. Plus, who really wants to wear a dress on a cold and rainy day, especially when you are chasing around your kids. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IUD9oT1MBoA/Ta3dpBvywWI/AAAAAAAAAhE/J5TDjdNIA6M/s1600/spring-power-suit-woman-opt.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IUD9oT1MBoA/Ta3dpBvywWI/AAAAAAAAAhE/J5TDjdNIA6M/s640/spring-power-suit-woman-opt.jpg" width="449" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-taZPBhRV0wo/Ta3dsJZnw6I/AAAAAAAAAhI/dpQCKHMY1gc/s1600/opt-pale-blue-suit-womens-p.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-taZPBhRV0wo/Ta3dsJZnw6I/AAAAAAAAAhI/dpQCKHMY1gc/s640/opt-pale-blue-suit-womens-p.jpg" width="336" /></a></div><br />
At this point I am mentally flipping through my clothing. Trying to figure out what isn't too wintry but will still be okay for the weather... then, I had it. I will wear a suit... sort of... Now, I am not a suit person. I owned one once (a really cute bouclé pencil skirt and jacket reminiscent of the 50's) when I first started working. And that is it. So, let's just say my suit isn't what you are expecting. But, after I wore this, I realized that anyone could wear some version of this suit and it would be perfect for work or for special events. It is also a great way to have some fun in a more conservative environment.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Zqw3mVXZhrM/Ta3n4nXIHUI/AAAAAAAAAhY/xI7FGBGuufY/s1600/hats.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Zqw3mVXZhrM/Ta3n4nXIHUI/AAAAAAAAAhY/xI7FGBGuufY/s640/hats.jpg" width="529" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6HFlWtf60m4/Ta3oE2K643I/AAAAAAAAAhc/kWHBPCyYReE/s1600/Sakowitz_Houston_suit_by_Holiday_1957.225121918_large.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6HFlWtf60m4/Ta3oE2K643I/AAAAAAAAAhc/kWHBPCyYReE/s640/Sakowitz_Houston_suit_by_Holiday_1957.225121918_large.jpg" width="500" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>I started with this DVF blouse that I had gotten a few months ago (it is on sale at <a href="http://dvf.com/">dvf.com</a>). This was a fabulous purchase for me... I absolutely love it and have been able to wear it many different ways! Oh, and I ordered it one size larger for a more dramatic effect.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fNlRDD7-P6I/Ta3e4U7osYI/AAAAAAAAAhM/ban9XE_nLkU/s1600/dvf-z-s2468023n10_nud_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fNlRDD7-P6I/Ta3e4U7osYI/AAAAAAAAAhM/ban9XE_nLkU/s640/dvf-z-s2468023n10_nud_1.jpg" width="476" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Then I added the best pair of black pants that I have ever owned, and no they are not too expensive. They are from Club Monaco. I bought them a couple of years ago because they were perfect, and they still are! They have a higher waist (but not extreme) and are perfectly fitted through the hips and bum. Then they fall into a classic trouser leg... they look good with anything (and everyone must own a pair of black pants like this!). This is a pair from <a href="http://www.zara.com/">Zara</a> that are similar... but have a bit more narrow leg.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-o9g-_-jMnCE/Ta3fnaj1aYI/AAAAAAAAAhU/lCDyVnDgTg0/s1600/2234231800_1_1_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-o9g-_-jMnCE/Ta3fnaj1aYI/AAAAAAAAAhU/lCDyVnDgTg0/s640/2234231800_1_1_3.jpg" width="497" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Okay, so then I needed a jacket. Now, I am working on my jackets. I was never a very big jacket person, but as of late, have favored a cool blazer in place of the cardi's that used to wear day all of the time. Thanks, to my sister (stylist extraordinaire at <a href="http://www.jackthreads.com/">Jack Threads</a>), I ended up with a very cute cropped black jacket on sale at <a href="http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/">Urban</a> for about $20! And, it was perfect for this occasion! This is a blazer from <a href="http://www.zara.com/">Zara</a> that is similar...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--ObmvArQavk/Ta3fnBtgDoI/AAAAAAAAAhQ/_ZIrTCTr02U/s1600/2138937800_1_1_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--ObmvArQavk/Ta3fnBtgDoI/AAAAAAAAAhQ/_ZIrTCTr02U/s640/2138937800_1_1_3.jpg" width="497" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div>I wish that I had a picture of myself. Just to let you know, I was very happy and comfortable with the outcome! I will definitely start to seek out more interesting jackets and tops to create more suit-like looks because they do take you so far... daytime, out at night, special events, etc. Something to think about when you are in a rut, or want to take advantage of something that you already own!<br />

It is the result of traveler Blake Mycoskie befriending children in Argentina, only to learn that they did not have any shoes. He returned to the United States and officially started the "One for One" campaign, otherwise known as TOMS shoes. When you buy one pair, one pair is given to a child in need. What a fantastic yet simple idea... a way to buy something that you really can use at an affordable price with the added bonus of knowing that you are truly helping a child in need is genius!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UtlxkVtS_D4/TaUEyUx_0II/AAAAAAAAAf0/8JQPG0BQZI4/s1600/_6262864.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UtlxkVtS_D4/TaUEyUx_0II/AAAAAAAAAf0/8JQPG0BQZI4/s640/_6262864.jpg" width="416" /></a></div><br />
The reality of the situation is that going barefoot can be very bad for your health and future. Many diseases are transmitted through the soil, cuts caused by being barefoot can get infected and many children are not allowed in school without shoes. So, you really are doing so much by investing in a pair of TOMS.<br />
<br />
From a fashion standpoint, they are really cute shoes. They have come a long way from their inception, and I believe that this has really helped the brand become so well-known. Think of these shoes as the keds for the 21st century. They are casual, cool and fun. Now available in a variety of colors, prints and textures... there is something for everyone. TOMS even introduced a wedge this spring... fabulous!<br />

The price of these shoes ranges from about $40-$70 depending on the style. Not such a bad price when you think about what you are doing when you make that purchase. They might be layered with sweaters and my fur vest, but I will be wearing them soon! I have only been staring at them for how many months... who, knows... I have lost count!<br />
<br />
Alright, onto my point before I put you to sleep! I recently happened upon some amazing tee's! First, they are made from bamboo. And, why does this matter? Well, bamboo is naturally anti-bacterial (which means no odor). And, just like all of these athletic looking dri-fit shirts we all wear to the gym, the bamboo is a hollow fiber and does this naturally, wicking away the sweat. Another awesome fact (like you need another one!), bamboo is highly breathable, which means it keeps you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. So the icing on the cake, bamboo is much better for the environment and requires no pesticides to grow! I believe it is time to join Team Bamboo!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4O15rfUbck4/TZVLUGuJhJI/AAAAAAAAAfk/ieIy-gw3o9Q/s1600/homeimg_35.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="422" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4O15rfUbck4/TZVLUGuJhJI/AAAAAAAAAfk/ieIy-gw3o9Q/s640/homeimg_35.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
Okay, now that we have all of the technical facts, we are down to the wire... how does it feel? Um, well, totally soft and wonderful! Better than cotton! It is time to head to <a href="http://thebambooshirt.com/">thebambooshirt.com</a> and take a look. There are v-necks, unisex crew's or maybe go with a bit of an oversize men's v-neck... oh, the possibilities... <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Axs2pkJfAcs/TZVLUwpWNPI/AAAAAAAAAfo/T5xiLEqEuSs/s1600/homeimg_36.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Axs2pkJfAcs/TZVLUwpWNPI/AAAAAAAAAfo/T5xiLEqEuSs/s640/homeimg_36.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
I was lucky enough to discover these bamboo tee's the night of the Dress for Success event. Patrick Smith, who is a member of <a href="http://www.houseoftoi.com/">Team Toi</a>, has branched out with these fabulous line of tee's. Otherwise known as P-Three Bamboo, these shirts are amazing! I highly recommend that you add these to your wardrobe!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5g9j9gh05ws/TZVLknJQfSI/AAAAAAAAAfs/nMGSs_du1HA/s1600/image-crop-demo.php.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5g9j9gh05ws/TZVLknJQfSI/AAAAAAAAAfs/nMGSs_du1HA/s400/image-crop-demo.php.jpeg" width="310" /></a></div><br />
Just think about how good (and sexy) a soft v-neck tee will look with a bit of jewelry and a maxi skirt (sorry, my obsession) or a pair of long and lean flare jeans... just saying...<br />

</tbody></table>Saturday night I had the opportunity to attend a fundraiser for the Hudson County chapter of Dress for Success. It is a fantastic charity that I wholeheartedly believe in. For those of you who are not familiar with it, <a href="http://www.dressforsuccess.org/home.aspx">DFS</a> is a non-profit organization that helps to promote the economic independence for disadvantaged women. They do this by providing professional attire, career development and counseling. If you find yourself doing a wardrobe edit, check to see if you have a local DFS chapter near you. They accept clothing, footwear and accessories. When giving to DFS, you know that your clothes will be in good hands.<br />

I love these Jimmy Choo sandals! They are gorgeous! I started drooling the moment I saw them, but $995, seriously! I have a very good feeling that a purchase of this size would not go over very well at home. So, in their place, I found these sexy Calvin Klein sandals... only $148!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-_ADfN2y_alE/TY0B-b3ZzFI/AAAAAAAAAeU/CnPhelSeaws/s1600/pl825598-00vliv01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-_ADfN2y_alE/TY0B-b3ZzFI/AAAAAAAAAeU/CnPhelSeaws/s400/pl825598-00vliv01.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">You are probably wondering what my obsession with python print is, right? Well, it is the perfect warm weather counterpart to the leopard print! Not that snakeskin is only wearable in the summer and animal in the winter, you can definitely rock both all year round! It is just that after wearing the calf hair off of both my animal print flats and heels, I think that it is time to give them a rest! Plus, how fabulous does the snakeskin look with white, nude or blush tones, even black... This print is more exciting than a nude heel, but still is light enough in color that it doesn't scream notice me first! Therefore, it will help to elongate the leg. Plus, I love the caged look and I think that Calvin Klein did a fabulous job of giving the shoe some umph! yet elegant at the same time. What more could you ask for?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Oh, and I almost forgot, this particular shoe would look hot with shorter length dresses and just as perfect with the new longer lengths (yay!)... and, the maxi obsession continues...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This is a print that everyone should consider investing in... a clutch and belt are also great purchases!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

You always solve all of my problems!<br />
<br />
My latest dilemma... I would like a touch of sparkle on my ears to brighten my face. In the past I have been influenced by the bigger is always better trend. However, lately when I am wearing a large or multiple necklaces (or even several bracelets), I don' always want to wear my larger genuine cubic zurconia studs. It is just too much! What to do???<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-lg9GZuJrUG0/TYo3xnhpRXI/AAAAAAAAAeE/1pIf6qaMnOE/s1600/Carrie-bradshaw.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-lg9GZuJrUG0/TYo3xnhpRXI/AAAAAAAAAeE/1pIf6qaMnOE/s1600/Carrie-bradshaw.jpg" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Notice the earrings...</td></tr>
</tbody></table><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Once again, as I watching Sex and the City reruns, there was a scene in which Carrie was wearing the tiniest diamond studs. They were perfect - offering just a touch of sparkle to SJP's face... not distracting at all. That is exactly what I needed... baby diamond studs (or something along those lines). </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Well, I was finally out shopping (by myself) the other day, and I checked out the genuine cz studs at Nordies. The smallest size I could find was a 1/4 carat, and I am not sure that they are small enough. I think the saleswoman thought that I was crazy asking for such small "diamond" studs, but there is always a reason for my random requests! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-82TNJTj8Edw/TYo8b3tkk8I/AAAAAAAAAeI/08ejNq_05g4/s1600/_5750733.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-82TNJTj8Edw/TYo8b3tkk8I/AAAAAAAAAeI/08ejNq_05g4/s640/_5750733.jpg" width="416" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Still too big, I think...</td></tr>
</tbody></table><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">So, anyway, I was searching online and found baby diamond studs, and I think that they might just be perfect... I will let you know!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-HA5_6J9AZxM/TYo9o0_yCWI/AAAAAAAAAeM/6mfA70lYEFU/s1600/31w%252B3JYzDPL._SL500_AA300_.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-HA5_6J9AZxM/TYo9o0_yCWI/AAAAAAAAAeM/6mfA70lYEFU/s320/31w%252B3JYzDPL._SL500_AA300_.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">.15 carats... I think we have a winner!</td></tr>

It is spring! The sun is trying to break through the clouds (I see a hint of blue sky) and it is going to be warm (sort of, does 50 degrees count?). Anyway, I love the first signs of spring... </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-OktppZPDT48/TYjVAihPusI/AAAAAAAAAd0/NyGdgLyTL4g/s1600/wp_Spring_Daisy_1600x1200.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-OktppZPDT48/TYjVAihPusI/AAAAAAAAAd0/NyGdgLyTL4g/s640/wp_Spring_Daisy_1600x1200.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I always associate spring with new beginnings. So, why not try out a trend that I haven't done much with until now... shorts! I went to Stowe last week thinking that this would be the last time that I saw snow, but I was wrong! However, since we were on the verge of spring skiing last week, my post today is perfect for this crazy cold one day, warm the next weather we have to endure for the next few weeks. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-fliyA9RTJ8c/TYdnkGeXUEI/AAAAAAAAAcs/H7B2zjjodZE/s1600/05vermont_600.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-fliyA9RTJ8c/TYdnkGeXUEI/AAAAAAAAAcs/H7B2zjjodZE/s1600/05vermont_600.JPG" /></a></div><br />
As I have written about before, I have been out of the skiing loop for several years. Now that my daughters are old enough to start skiing (yay!!!), I am ready to jump back in, but what do I wear? I was excited to go to Stowe just to check out the latest in skiing gear and apres ski dressing. <br />
<br />
So what did I learn? As with all clothing, the most important thing is the fit. It doesn't really matter what color combo you choose, just make sure your jackets and pants are as fitted as they can be. It is nice that North Face, Spyder, etc have gotten wise to the fact that we don't want to look like giant Michelin men out on the slopes. It isn't too hard now to find slim fitting ski clothes at any price point. However, skiing is still expensive. It is definitely an investment. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-xzysyVrsBIE/TYdn0KVy2lI/AAAAAAAAAcw/x_WsMBl1_Go/s1600/HomeSpyder20092010-Spyder1039711961SZ_xxlarge_image1_155896.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-xzysyVrsBIE/TYdn0KVy2lI/AAAAAAAAAcw/x_WsMBl1_Go/s400/HomeSpyder20092010-Spyder1039711961SZ_xxlarge_image1_155896.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-NxONaIeFhTU/TYd7Ymf532I/AAAAAAAAAdE/EqfCXPetjSo/s1600/HomeSpyder20092010-Spyder103300001004_xxlarge_image1_153281.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-NxONaIeFhTU/TYd7Ymf532I/AAAAAAAAAdE/EqfCXPetjSo/s400/HomeSpyder20092010-Spyder103300001004_xxlarge_image1_153281.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-8C1jJ8UWFdw/TYd7ZSBWXiI/AAAAAAAAAdM/alheoLP28W8/s1600/HomeSpyder20092010-Spyder104620198002_xxlarge_image1_156871.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-8C1jJ8UWFdw/TYd7ZSBWXiI/AAAAAAAAAdM/alheoLP28W8/s400/HomeSpyder20092010-Spyder104620198002_xxlarge_image1_156871.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-_6zJNTRRlRQ/TYd7ZHapUCI/AAAAAAAAAdI/XxuMfjoqr8g/s1600/HomeSpyder20092010-Spyder103302100004_xxlarge_image1_153337.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-_6zJNTRRlRQ/TYd7ZHapUCI/AAAAAAAAAdI/XxuMfjoqr8g/s400/HomeSpyder20092010-Spyder103302100004_xxlarge_image1_153337.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>The next most important thing for the warmer weather... great looking wellies. The boot of choice in Stowe at this time of year is the rubber rain boot. Just like today, you might be walking in snow one minute, rain the next and later there will be lots of mud. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-_yKWgbKN9iI/TYdpezm8ZzI/AAAAAAAAAdA/h8Apgc5lKJ4/s1600/hunter-wellies.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-_yKWgbKN9iI/TYdpezm8ZzI/AAAAAAAAAdA/h8Apgc5lKJ4/s320/hunter-wellies.jpg" width="209" /></a></div><br />
Also, important, a great pair of sunnies. These are essential as you sit outside enjoying a frosty beverage after a hard day of skiing. It really depends on your own personal style, but I think the best kind to wear in ski country are something dark and more athletic looking... a great pair of dark metal aviators would be perfect! But then again, a fabulous pair of black Chanel shades are a classic and will always look good.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-_XYyM0pW_08/TYd-hb6cWZI/AAAAAAAAAdQ/ghA4APd5Yj0/s1600/0410725973235R_300x400.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-_XYyM0pW_08/TYd-hb6cWZI/AAAAAAAAAdQ/ghA4APd5Yj0/s400/0410725973235R_300x400.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>To complete your apres ski look, pull your hair back in a pony, add some lipstick, wear some warm leggings underneath your ski pants to wear with your wellies and you will be all set! <br />
<br />
Even if you aren't hitting the slopes any time soon, take these tips and apply to the weather right now!<br />

While I love this look, what about working the new seventies trend into what we already have in our closet? I am talking about skinny jeans, lightweight dresses and possibly a maxi skirt or dress from a previous season.<br />
<br />
Well, the new peasant blouses and tunics are going to look perfect with pair of skinny cropped white or dark jeans or any type of skinny pants. The flowing dresses and skirts (no matter what the length) are still going to look fantastic, but what shoes shall we wear...<br />
<br />
As an example, think of Jackie O. She always had a timeless look... her closet was full of well-tailored basics. Then she had different jewelry, a fabulous scarf, a new pair of shoes... something simple to update her look. She never went overboard with a trend... she always did it just right.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-xgCBEcObUNo/TXZ9jX7jwVI/AAAAAAAAAbc/uPqjKkz9LlA/s1600/Jackie-Onassis-in-capris.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-xgCBEcObUNo/TXZ9jX7jwVI/AAAAAAAAAbc/uPqjKkz9LlA/s640/Jackie-Onassis-in-capris.jpg" width="410" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-GQAdurIcbO8/TXZ92TIN_iI/AAAAAAAAAbk/MxwRcAk7uJ4/s1600/2667947.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-GQAdurIcbO8/TXZ92TIN_iI/AAAAAAAAAbk/MxwRcAk7uJ4/s640/2667947.jpg" width="466" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-EY2cVX359Xc/TXZ9s9OMrQI/AAAAAAAAAbg/c7WlNST6tcU/s1600/75543016.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-EY2cVX359Xc/TXZ9s9OMrQI/AAAAAAAAAbg/c7WlNST6tcU/s640/75543016.jpg" width="496" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">So, in order to be just as chic and understated as Jackie O, I have found just the shoe! I am in love with these Loeffler Randall shoes. I love the gladiator styling, the wedge and the gold! Neutral, not too shiny and comfortable... and, the best part, they would look great with all of the above clothes that we already have in our closet!</div><br />

Depending on your lifestyle and closet, you should be able to take one pair of wedge sandals and wear them with just about everything. Add a few new pieces that will work in with what you have, and there you have it... a new look for Spring!<br />

It is by the famed fashion photog Tommy Ton. His blog is <a href="http://JakandJil.com/">jakandjil.com</a>. And, it is full of gorgeous fashion photography. A great place for inspiration, especially on a very dreary, gray and rainy day. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I have come to love his photography even more after reading an <a href="http://models.com/mdx/?p=3126">interview</a> that he did last year. He talks about how he was just a kid who loved fashion, but wasn't quite sure where to go with it. After trying out different jobs, he decided photography would be the way to go. He taught himself and eventually started buying plane tickets to London and Paris to sit outside of the shows and take pictures. And, now the rest is history! He works for style.com, shoots fashion campaigns and sits in the front row at all of the shows. It is a great story of following your passion...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

I love the way that she believes women should embrace their femininity and "wear a dress" while kicking ass. I also love her prints and the way her clothes fit just right. Oh, and I love her use of silk jersey... it is a perfect fabric. Like I said, I heart DVF (especially the dresses)... sigh.<br />

As you can imagine, I was extremely excited to find out that she was re-releasing some of her vintage prints this past month! And, let me tell you, they are fabulous! Let's just say, slip on one of these dresses and you will be effortlessly chic for any event this summer... shopping in the Hamptons, sipping a cocktail at the Chatham Bars Inn (a personal favorite!), hosting a party, lounging by the pool or even going to work... these pieces are simply irresistible! <br />

And, honestly, it comes from all over the place. Sometimes the weather inspires me, a group of colors in nature, a photograph, a song, a very cool piece of clothing or just the idea of attending a specific event... it really depends on the day. So, I thought that I would try to share with everyone the inspiration behind one of my outfits...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The most important thing to know is that I am completely taken with maxi dresses and skirts right now... a slight maxi obsession! Then, when it was warm enough to open my car windows not too long ago, I became very excited for summer dressing. I also happened upon some photos of Tory Burch's home and became totally obsessed with her use of color! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-8516hBan1gk/TW6hS1jw_TI/AAAAAAAAAYk/ReIMBkDD17Q/s1600/tory+burch+kitchen+elle+magazine.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-8516hBan1gk/TW6hS1jw_TI/AAAAAAAAAYk/ReIMBkDD17Q/s400/tory+burch+kitchen+elle+magazine.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-Uv7Is8Tq_j8/TW6hTVuhYOI/AAAAAAAAAYo/0wGMTWy7flA/s1600/tory+burch+vogue+larger+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-Uv7Is8Tq_j8/TW6hTVuhYOI/AAAAAAAAAYo/0wGMTWy7flA/s400/tory+burch+vogue+larger+1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Then I found this Tory Burch dress, which I am completely in love with... subdued color - more my style...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-RL2jH1hIzcA/TW6h_7R99UI/AAAAAAAAAYs/J9AyMuESMUk/s1600/110217_in_dl.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-RL2jH1hIzcA/TW6h_7R99UI/AAAAAAAAAYs/J9AyMuESMUk/s400/110217_in_dl.jpg" width="266" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This dress got me thinking about the casual chicness of the Hamptons... polo matches, shopping, the beach, cool little restaurants...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-vqRmKwl6qkE/TW6oGZl6ioI/AAAAAAAAAZc/3qMCvY_n8vg/s1600/boathouse+4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-vqRmKwl6qkE/TW6oGZl6ioI/AAAAAAAAAZc/3qMCvY_n8vg/s400/boathouse+4.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">With all of these images floating through my head (and some that I dreamed up), I thought about what would be a great outfit that I could wear and look very chic in the Hamptons... The dress is a good base. It can be dressed up or down, and I am definitely all about versatility. I also thought about adding more color or pattern, but that is not me. I like things that are more understated, so I chose an outfit with a little color mixed with neutrals. I also decided on more of a daytime look (it would take me further)... I paired the Tory Burch dress with an Acne anorak J.Crew shoes and handbag, an Alexis Bittar ring, a Cartier tank watch (of course!) and I almost forgot a pair of MJB aviators...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

Well, my obsession is really more about the clothes (it always is) and the way the dancers dress during rehearsals. I absolutely love the the way the dancers layer effortlessly and just look so cool. Whether it is leg warmers, tutu's, chiffon skirts, ballet sweaters, etc... they always make me want to go to the nearest dance store to stock up on layers. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
